"We Sing the Song!" NCC Concert, 2012

We blinked, and another year of choir is now behind us.  Last night was the NCC's spring concert, and it was really quite good.  Yes, I am biased--of course!  With a full year of experience, I can now definitively say that the instruction the girls receive is top notch, and has allowed the sadness and uncertainty of leaving YFVS to subside.  I've even found a few sweet friends among the choir moms, and the girls have solidified friendships as well.  So, whether evaluated by musical instruction, or the gaining of positive relationships, the NCC has delivered above and beyond what I had even dared to hope for.  As I state on several of my blog posts: I am thankful.
This is Dr. Madeline Bridges, Professor of Music and Associate Dean for Academic Studies for the School of Music at Belmont University, and Program Director for the Nashville Children's Choirs.  She is also just an over-all great lady with a  soothing and syrupy southern drawl.  The touring choir is fortunate that this woman is their director.

I could watch this one sing forever.  She's just a tad expressive.  *giggle*

For a good portion of the concert, it was hard to see my sweet Moo behind kids whose height or hair was posing as an obstacle.  We got a shot here and there. :)

The boy on the far left is Reed.  He is in 7th grade, and although the NCC touring choir goes up to 8th, his voice has changed enough that he will be ineligible next season.  He will graduate up to the high school youth choir a year early.  His little brother is on the far right.  That drum looks bigger than he is, but man, could he play!

My sweet songbirds--I love them lots, and look forward to seeing how the Father uses their talents and gifts as they grow up.

Here is a video montage of the concert.  It's a long one, so here is the song list and the times that each song starts:
Sizohamba Naye, 0:00
Festival Sanctus, 4:44
Panis Angelicus, 7:37
Adiemus, 10:43
Will You Teach Me?, 15:35
I See the Morning Breaking, 19:13
True Colors, 22:03
Chattanooga Choo Choo, 25:44
Music Down in My Soul, 28:02  (I highly recommend this one!)
Sarasponda, 33:19
When in Our Music God is Glorified, 34:41
The LORD Bless You and Keep You, 37:53 (a family favorite)

And now, for your viewing pleasure:

Lovely! Absolutely lovely!
Question...what are the different divisions? I see white shirts/red vests, white shirts, all in black...is an age division or something musical? Inquiring minds must know!

The different divisions: the touring choir, which is the highest level of the children's choir, have the red vests. The step below them is the concert choir. Not pictured are the itty bitties in black jumpers--the preparatory choir--cute. The high schoolers are all in black. There are only general age divisions; it is mostly based on talent. Sometimes a boy will be promoted to the high school youth choir before he is in high school, simply because his voice has changed.
