Moving Day 2011

The girls made this poster some time ago.
There were a lot of goodbyes before this big one.  My husband didn't come up from TN a lot over the last 7 months, so when he did come visit, it was a BIG deal.  And saying goodbye each time was hard.  I think that maybe this was the Father's way of helping us all stand up under the weight of grief that comes with saying a more prolonged goodbye to friends and family.  It allowed us to build up our goodbye muscles just a bit more...but still...ouch.
They would always try to stand on the front porch, often in their pajamas, and wave goodbye to Daddy as he left for the trip back to Tennessee.
This past weekend was moving day, and so many people came by to help or to visit.  We are thankful for their love, help and friendship.

Here are just a few pictures.

Jack and Concetta brought lunch for our family and our moving crew.  So nice!

Dan, Marah, the Steves and Scott.

Sweet Concetta and dear Anna--my chef and cleaning lady--both, the BEST!

Precious Sophie.

My sister Kristen and her hubby Nick (a.k.a. our moving superintendent).
Steve gives a goodbye squeeze to his youngest nephew, Roan.

What else would you do if you were a kid??

Our neighbor, Cayla Sunshine (that's really her name!) came by with goodbye gifts for the girls, and a birthday gift for Belle.

The night before our move, all of our house was empty except for a couple mattresses, the television and some overstuffed backpacks.

The girls drove the whole way to Tennessee in the cab of the truck with Daddy.  That gave me and Charlie the Shih Tzu plenty of time to BLAST the radio (okay, most the time it was talk radio...but still!  It was great!).  :)
A surprise on our new front porch: a swing!
So for now, with all those goodbyes behind us, we brace ourselves for whatever craziness the South has in store for us.  So far, nothing too out of the ordinary...just some BIG bugs, funny billboards and charming accents.  I'll keep y'all posted!

Behind the Scenes

Thought I'd show a little video of how hard it was to get ANY shots of the cousins where they all were actually looking at the camera:

Belle's 10th Birthday

Our baby girl is turning 10 tomorrow.
To use a terribly hackneyed phrase--I don't know where the time has gone.  But one thing that my husband and I do know, is that the time has been filled to the brim with joy and thankfulness for the special young lady that Bellie is becoming.
Belle, you are a young lady of conscience who is not only extremely beautiful and bright...but most importantly you are a spirit who is sensitive to the Father's leading.  We treasure you!
Jaiden was ever close to the birthday girl and her presents.

Also present: Auntie Dani, Josh, Canaan, Lily, Marah and, of course, Boomer.

Books on horse care--these pages will be poured over.

Note--my Aunt Swede and Uncle Cliff are turning 80 and 90 years old this year!

Ahhh...cold, hard cash that Belle wants to use toward getting a Kindle (atta girl!).
She was SO excited to get new pajamas.

It's hard to get a picture of Drew.  He thinks that the camera will steal his inner-ninja.

Monkey socks!

Ooooo...lip gloss!

...and then a moment of hugging said baby monkey.
A baby sock monkey brings a big hug to the gifter...

Hair pretties from Mimi & Bucky.

Fancy flip-flops, too.

The cousins.

Belle thinks that her cake is THE BEST EVER.  She is so easily pleased by cakes bought at Jewel, and her not-so-great-baker of a mother is very thankful for that fact.

Bucky wants to help blow out the candles too. :)

This is the last important family event that will have to be celebrated without Daddy.
Three out of four of us have celebrated a birthday while separated.
*whew*
So glad that is over (I will be posting soon on the big move!).

Brace Yourself!

Today, Moo finally got her braces off. To mark this momentous occasion, I've posted a before picture, an EXTREME CLOSE-UP, and an after shot:

Before.

Close up!  She was very rubber-bandy for the last half of her treatment.

The big reveal!
