MTHEA Banquet 2015

On April 10, 2015, MTHEA (Middle Tennessee Home Educators Association) had their banquet for high schoolers in middle Tennessee.
Moo's dear friend Kitty came over with her mom and sister, and the girls got ready together and drove over to the venue with Kitty's mom.

Moo was invited by a girl who was organizing a table of friends from our tutorial.
Such a fun group of people.

The theme was "Gatsby", and there was dinner music and entertainment throughout the evening.

Moo was asked to play a couple pieces on her violin during dinner, as well as sing as part of a small ensemble at the start of the main block of entertainment.

She had an absolute blast, and the evening wrapped up with a swing dance (so fun!).

At the end of the evening, she and a group of girls went to a friend's house to sleep over.  She was exhausted and dragging for a week afterwards, but it seems to have been worth it.
We are so thankful for the community of friends that we have found here in Nashville.

Union Preview Day

This last weekend, Moo and I went to Union University for their "Union Preview Day".

We toured the campus, visited a lecture, met with a professor--we chose an English prof, as my eldest can't decide if she wants to major in music (vocal ed), English (creative writing emphasis) or Chemistry (which of these three is not like the other??)--and received info on admission criteria and scholarship opportunities.  Oh--she did get a t-shirt as well.  That's always a bonus.

It was surreal.
Will we...can we...send this girl off into the world in just a couple years?

Let's not even talk about it, okay?  ;)

TLC Players 2015 Musical Production: Hello Dolly!

The TLC Players always do a great job--amazing actually--of bringing top notch musicals to the Nashville area.  The TLC Players are made entirely out of 7th-12th grade homeschoolers (but, oh please, this is NOT your typical high school musical!!).  We've seen their productions in the past, and find ourselves thankful and amazed that we are now part of their homeschool cooperative community.  In December of last year, the girls both auditioned for the TLC production of Hello Dolly.  After many nervous days awaiting the audition results, word came that Belle would play Mrs. Rose and Moo was placed in the role that she had hoped for: Mrs. Irene Malloy (think "Ribbons Down My Back", for those familiar with the play).

Rehearsals started in January...and the production was over the weekend of March 20-21, 2015.  I should note that there were rehearsals cancelled due to freezing ice and snow...and a couple key folks missed several rehearsals due to injury and family emergencies.  I note this because the production was just as perfect as if they had been rehearsing without incident for months and months.  I am so proud of this group of kids and their directors.

If you want to see Moo in her final number...start at about the 4:30 mark.
