Shavuot (Pentecost) 2012

Today is Shavuot, and last night we celebrated among the people at LAMB Fellowship.  The girls participated in a children's dance, which they LOVED being a part of this year.  Miss Mary had a wide age range of children involved, and she did very well teaching them their parts.  We love Miss Mary. ;)

The girls and some of their friends.
If you are trying to find our girls, Belle is along the front row of chairs in mid-air, and Moo is in the far right corner of this shot.

In the dances that they have participated in so far, this was the first time that they had flags and a taboret. I have never heard of a "taboret" before...apparently it is a small hoop with decorative ribbons or tinsel attached along the rim of the hoop.

Here is video of the children's dance (one taken by me, and another by another family from a different angle):

After the dances, families brought their two challah wave offerings as well as offerings of flowers and produce to the bema and around the chupah.  It was a symbolic gesture that only mirrored elements found in temple worship service a couple thousand years ago, but it was actually quite a meaningful time for our family.

Each family took time to present their wave offerings and pray in the chupah.
At the very end of the evening, the kids who participated in the spring Bible verse memory challenge received certificates.  Moo memorized 54 verses over the past several weeks, and Belle memorized 40. The girls also had an opportunity to sing "The L-RD Bless You and Keep You" for the congregation.
It was a blessed time, and we are fortunate to have been brought to this place a year ago.
