Back to School 2013-2014

FRESHMAN YEAR
Wow.  That happened quick. I swear just yesterday I was teaching her the phonics rules. (That's all I'm going to say about that, since this is a post to act as a future reminder of what was on the schedule for Moo's freshman year.  I will NOT get emotional. Sigh.)

Algebra I
English 9
Physical Science w/lab
Spanish II
Keyboarding
Choir (NCC as Graduate Assistant)
Musical Theater
Suzuki Violin (start of Book 4)
Piano at MTPAA

One of the best decisions we made was to get 3 high school credits out of the way before the start of freshman year.  This took care of World History, Biology and one Spanish credit.  We have a little bit of breathing room with required courses now, but as her schedule shows, she still has a very full plate starting next week.  We are involved in two different tutorials and a couple different performance academies to make it all happen.

SEVENTH GRADE
Belle is now smack in the middle of junior high school, and doing just great.  As fast as Moo seems to be growing up and maturing, Belle seems to be going at extra warp speed.  Here is what she has on her plate this year:

English 7
Math 7 (Teaching Textbooks 7)
Science
Art History
Spanish I
Social Studies
Geography
Musical Theater
Choir (NCC)
Guitar at MTPAA

Belle will have the bulk of her instruction at home using mostly the Calvert Curriculum I used a couple years ago with her sister, with only Musical Theater happening at a tutorial, and also with the help of performance academies to offer vocal and instrument instruction. We will see how this year goes before we decide to take advantage of tutorials for both of the girls' core classes next year.  Tutorials only meet once or twice a week at most, and parents then serve to guide their homeschoolers through assigned tasks at home during the week.  It is a 'best of both worlds' scenario...I think.  I'll let you know.  :)
