When I purchased this climbing flower in the early spring, I was really unsure about what it would look like. I am amazed at the strange mix of textures and designs that the blooms display when open. So here is the challenge: do you know what this flowering climber is called?

It's a passion flower vine and its name refers to the passion of Jesus Christ. If you look at the entry on the passion flower in Wikipedia it will tell you why missionaries in the 16th century thought the flower reminded them of Christ's passion.
That's right, CLS! Thanks for the additional info--this started as a fun quiz for a few close friends, and it turns out that I learned a little something too! :)
